The Practicum Placement Scheme (PPS) covers the wages for eligible Working Towards Early Childhood Teachers. They must be enrolled in an approved Early Childhood Bachelor qualification, slated for completion in 2024 or 2025. The scheme supports their attendance at practicum placements, mandated by the Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority.
The amount payable to eligible applicants under the PPS is $35.41 per hour for a maximum of 38 hours, for a maximum of 4 weeks. Equating to a total of $5,382.32 as the capped funding amount.
Recipients of PPS funding are not eligible to participate in the Qualifications Pathways Program (QPP).
The QPP is a scholarship program that will provide financial support and wrap-around coaching and mentoring support to eligible educators to attain and/or upgrade an approved Certificate III, Diploma, Bachelor, or Graduate Diploma qualification in early childhood while continuing to work in the sector. In addition, Educators who have received support from the Australian Government through the Professional Development and Paid Practicum Subsidy program are not eligible to receive funding under the PPS.

Applications that do not include the appropriate evidence cannot be actioned. You cannot use holiday pay, annual leave, or any other type of leave to receive monies under PPS. Successful practicum placements must be completed in full before any funding is released.
