If you are looking to complete your qualifications for Early Childhood Education and Care, you may be weighing up your best options. What does your decision revolve around? Cost? Duration? Quality? For many people, time and money are vital in their decision. But often times, you will find that so-called “fast-tracked” routes of study deliver a low-quality, low-value course.
ACA Qld is dedicated to encouraging high-quality early childhood education and care, which starts with having well-equipped educators in the sector. We want to share some important notes around selecting training pathways so that you know you are receiving the best of the best knowledge, skills, and practices.
There is ongoing debate around the use of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) in ECEC studies. At a glance, it may seem like a good way to fast-track your studies and will often be offered as a way for educators to move through qualifications quickly and without much perceived effort. The RPL processes are designed to reflect a student's competency of knowledge, skills, and abilities. However, these processes are more rigorous with quality training organisations than they are promoted to be, and pathways with less rigorous processes are likely to leave you missing out on key components of your course.
Early learning services are encouraged to seek out guidelines and advice from ASQA when choosing and changing training providers for their service.
We would like to remind our members that your training college, the CAECE team are happy to answer any questions relating to training for ACA Qld member services. You don't have to be a current student/customer of CAECE to receive advice or support.
