We have received numerous questions from members regarding copyright laws and the instances where you may be in breach of the Early Childhood Education Copyright Licence. Careforkids.com.au listed the following:
- Playing music at your facility
- Copying CDs or digital downloads to use at your facility
- Making video recordings that contain music
- Copying portions of books, artwork, pictures or other materials
- Sharing your materials with other facilities.
Copyright laws exist to protect the rights of creators and those who invest in them to make sure that they are fairly paid for the use of their work. Want to know more about the Early Childhood Education Copyright License? Read the fact sheet here.
We also published an article in our Early Edition Summer 2015 magazine regarding copyright license. Click here and turn to page 13 to read 'The Golden Rule of Copyright' by Dr Brenda Abbey and Roslyn Copas.
