The Premier has announced a new Health Direction for workers in high risk settings.
By 17 December 2021, all impacted staff will need to have received at least their first COVID-19 vaccination dose. This differs from earlier directives affecting other sectors, where the deadline relates to the double dose not the single dose. This date aligns with the date that other restrictions on unvaccinated people will come into force in Queensland. However, we acknowledge that this means some of your staff now have just two-and-a-half weeks to comply with this requirement, and we encourage you to do what you reasonably can to facilitate this.
By 23 January 2022, all impacted staff will need to be double vaccinated.
The Queensland Health site has been updated and can be found here. There is information about exceptions for unvaccinated staff in any setting that is ‘experiencing critical workforce shortages’, but that requires a PCR test before every shift.
At this point a full Public Health Directive has not been issued. ACA Qld will inform members of further details as they are announced.
